Cathedral of Sorrow
A horror game run by an AI-director trained on human fear. Survive emergent scares and procedural horror in the depths of the Cathedral. Evade its terrors and free its captive souls.
Features
An evolving nightmare
The baleful spirits haunting the Cathedral are hellbent on tormenting you. The game dynamically tracks and evaluates your playstyle using a machine learning algorithm trained to detect human fear to best decide when, where, and how to scare you next. Every whisper in the darkness and terrifying encounter is tailored to your fear profile for a unique and ever-changing horror experience.

Emotional problem solving
The Cathedral plays host to a range of all-too-willing prisoners. To penetrate its dark heart and uncover its secrets, you will need their help. Experience a heartbreaking blend of narrative-driven horror and cinematic storytelling, as you learn the stories, navigate the minefield of their psyches, and decide the fates of the residents of the Cathedral where hell is most definitely other people.

A maze without end
Death comes swiftly to the reckless and yet grants no release. With every reset, the abyssal labyrinth of the Cathedral procedurally twists, turns, and deepens as the AI director of the game gets to know you. Traverse a boundless palette of danger-filled corridors, ranging from the gothic and grotesque to the infernal and impossible. No playthrough is the same.
A mirror darkly
Witness gripping scenes of emotional devastation and human frailty, as a cast of depthful and intriguing characters are brought to life by masterful performers, including Magnus Bruun (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.) All fully voice acted and motion captured. Marvel at surrealistic and dreamlike environments with a soundtrack both eerie and beautiful.

About us
We are a Copenhagen-based game studio. We are organized as a 100% worker-owned cooperative, meaning that all our current and future developers will have an equal say in financial and creative decisions.
We are experienced entrepreneurs and developers with 5+ years in game development and game industry start-ups.
We are not defined by genres and are in active development of both a horror title, a kids title in a beloved IP and a wholesome game. But we want to make an impact with every title we develop and give you games that stay with you for years to come.
Values
We believe games are a force for good. But a sickness of cynical trend speculation and growth-for-growth’s-sake decisions has taken hold in our industry.
We want to make great games that profit the people who actually make them and that stay with our players for years instead of market cycles.
Games for players, not consumers
We create games that give you a valuable experience no matter which hyped game genres or trendy mechanics the industry blindly chases to squeeze profit from “consumers”. We aspire to foster a caring bond with our community of players that goes beyond single titles.
Developer-led games
We believe games have only explored a fraction of their full potential as an artistic medium because diverse perspectives are not valued, and the developers and artists who know their craft are not heard when big creative decisions are made.
People first
We cannot create impactful, creative games if we burn out or fire our developers every time we finish a project. Our people are our prime investment and we protect them as such.
Democratic business
We are entrepreneurs and respect the need for centralized decision-making and accountable leadership. We have an appointed CEO in charge of steering the company.
All developers have equal voting rights in all creative, business and financial decisions including what happens to our profits and who should steer the company.
Sustainable production
Great game experiences are not driven by the latest hardware; and the industry’s obsession with marginal increases in graphical fidelity is driving an exploitative industry of silicone and rare mineral extraction that is contributing to global warming and the exploitation of workers across the globe.
We wish to no longer support the rampant destruction of our planet through the exploitation of its natural resources. And we create games that give big experiences on the widest possible array of hardware across time and platforms.
Towards a better industry
Games are a beautiful form of art that connect people, provide escape from our harsh realities and enlighten players to new perspectives. But they also contribute to addiction and serve as gateway drugs to gambling problems while players and developers creating them are being exploited.
We are committed to combat these dark sides of our industry. And in the long-term; to inspire and educate our industry to do better.

The Cathedral beckons
We have spent lonely nights after work chipping away at polishing all that animation. We’ve spent weekends divining the entrails of gameplay systems through unholy haruspicy with our debuggers.
